This movie takes zero risks in surprising its audience and for that reason alone, I just can't recommend it. My Spy is absolutely everything you think it might be and nothing more. With Dave Bautista being in recent hits like Guardians of the Galaxy, Spectre, and his limited screentime in Blade Runner 2049, it was only a matter of time before he was given a role like this one. From The Pacifier to the Tooth Fairy, movies like this seem to come along when a new action star is on the rise. When it comes to films about an action star who has to look after a young child/family to prove himself, pretty much everything in the book has already been done.

It's not going to be a great film experience but as formulas go, Bautista plus precocious kid is winning enough to satisfy for 90 minutes. These little moments are enough to convince me there was a superior draft of this script before it was dulled and softened in the rewrite process for mass consumption. The finale even involves throwing a grenade into a burning oil truck just to achieve an explosion worthy of walking away from. She even sizes up all the "tragic backstory" options for Bautista's character we expect.

The little girl wants to learn how to be a spy action hero, so she asks about walking away with her back to an explosion and trying out other tropes. However, there are flashes that point to what My Spy could have been, a more spry and satirical tweak of spy hijinks and action movie cliches. It coasts on Bautista and the little girl (Chloe Coleman) having a fun chemistry that rises above the obvious and under-developed comedy set pieces. As far as children's films go, it's pretty standard and inoffensive stuff. It's Dave Bautista trying on the Kindergarten Cop formula, and the plot is pretty much what you would expect, with Bautista (Guardians of the Galaxy) having to watch a family and befriending the little daughter in danger, schooling her in the ways of spycraft before having to be rescued during the big finale. It's not actually bad but simply mediocre family fare (with an extra dose of Cardi B. His credits also included the dapper gangster Albert “Chalky” White on Boardwalk Empire, in which he was often dressed in the flamboyant styles of the roaring ‘20s with loud plaid three-piece suits, colorful bow ties, and a bright scarlet flannel overcoat with a gray astrakhan fur collar. This was a movie that intrigued me because of the number of release delays and because, by the trailers, it just looked like it was going to be fairly bad. (Somehow, neither Kill Bill film made the cut until years later.) Thus, Inglourious Basterds was the first QT flick I actually saw newly released in theaters. It wasn’t until my freshman year of college in the fall of 2007 when I first saw Reservoir Dogs and – entranced – I soon caught up by getting my hands on Pulp Fiction, Jackie Brown, True Romance, and Death Proof. Surprisingly to most, I was a late comer to Tarantino’s work. Vitalsīrad Pitt’s Personal Costumer: Isabell Logen (though I’m not sure what her contribution was to this particular outfit) Background
Aldo Raine in Inglourious Basterds (2009). The two-year spree of these “inglourious basterds” who give the film its title ends up in a Paris movie theater on the eve of the D-Day invasion with an opportunity to take down the German high command, including Hitler himself, to end the war. In this revisionist take on World War II, a band of Jewish-American military guerillas – think The Dirty Dozen meets The A-Team – is assigned the sole task of secretly but brutally fighting their way through occupied German territory, murdering any Nazi encountered in their wake. Inglourious Basterds kicks off a two-film spree in Tarantino’s filmography focused on rewriting history with violent vengeance.
